Keeploop or the built-in Gmail and Calendar connectors?
Updated
Which is better, the built-in Gmail connector or Keeploop?
It depends on where your mail lives. If your mail and calendar are in one Google account, or a Microsoft 365 work account, and you use Claude or ChatGPT on the web, the built-in connectors are the simpler choice: nothing to install, and no Mac needs to be on. Keeploop fits when you want what your Mac holds across every account in Apple Mail, plus Calendar, Messages, Notes and Slack, in any of the AI apps it supports, with Block, Ask or Auto rules you set on the Mac.
Side by side
| Claude connectors | ChatGPT apps | Keeploop | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it reaches | Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Drive for the one Google account you connect. A separate Microsoft 365 connector covers Outlook email and calendar for work accounts; personal Outlook.com, Hotmail and Live accounts cannot be used. | Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Contacts; Outlook Email and Outlook Calendar are separate apps. | Apple Mail on your Mac (every account you add to Mail and choose in Keeploop), plus Calendar, Messages, Notes, Slack and Contacts. |
| Who can use it | Google connectors: all users on Claude and Claude Desktop; Team and Enterprise need an Owner to enable them first. Microsoft 365: all plans (Free, Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise), with one-time admin consent in the Microsoft tenant. | Depends on the app, plan, region, workspace and interface. Gmail and Google Calendar were added for Plus and Pro in August 2025. | Free for AI apps on the same Mac. Web and phone AI apps need Keeploop Pro (a one-time purchase) or the free trial. Pricing |
| Writing and sending | Gmail: draft, send, reply and forward; Claude asks for approval before each by default. Calendar: create, update and delete events. Microsoft 365 is read-only unless an admin enables write tools. | Sending email is available on the web for Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise with Gmail or Outlook connected. Outlook Calendar writes are limited to supported shared calendars when enabled. | Drafts and sending need Pro. Every write is checked against your rules (Block, Ask or Auto per source, account, label, contact and app); the default is Ask. |
| Needs your Mac on | No. | No. | Yes. Keeploop runs on your Mac and reads it there. |
| Where data goes | Data retrieved while using connectors is stored on Anthropic servers. Anthropic says it does not train its models on Gmail, Drive or Calendar connector data (copied or pasted content can be an exception on consumer plans). | OpenAI says it does not train its generalized models on data directly from connected Google apps; for other apps on Free, Plus, Go and Pro it depends on the Improve the model setting. | Your data stays on your Mac until an AI app you connect asks for it; the result then goes to that AI provider under its own policy. For web and phone AI apps, the connection service passes requests and results and never stores them. |
